Few days ago I came here with my elder bro to collect some sea water!.
It's a natural sea gulf. A perfect place to have a swim..!!
And.. we collected water for our marine fish tanks..
There are lot of coral and marine life here!!! Couldn't get a snap though..
The road near by..
In future I will bring a underwater camera and film the colorful marine life for you to see...!
Back many years ago when I was a kid our family used to go to a well nearby a paddy field when we wanted a wash or a bath. Well, that was some nice memories!. The landscape hasn't changed much over the years but we don't go there anymore. That was the time we used to catch those little snake heads who lived in little streams which carried the water to the paddy fields. We used buckets to catch them and released them afterward. I should say that the whole process was very much fun! Those fish also liked to live in the paddy fields when there was water. (In fact, there is always water in the paddy fields. I hope to study and share the knowledge about the unique Ecosystem which can be seen there!)
Refreshing my memories I found out recently that those snakeheads are endemic to Sri Lanka and in fact, they are the smallest snakeheads in the world! And they cost a huge amount of money for snakehead lovers all over the world!
So that's when I wanted to catch some of them and keep them in a tank. The fishing trip was fun and we took a few back homes. I always have been a fish lover and this is a new but very familiar experience at the same time.
Beautiful fish! Aren't they?? Their scientific name is Channa Orientalis. Locally we call them " Kanaya".
Look, these guys can have different colors. It seems this fish like blue.
This big male is defending his hiding place.. He is almost black and aggressive! Watch out Mr. Cichlid!
Well, hope to share more stories soon. Will see you guys soon. Until next time, Bye!
Meanwhile, if you want to read more about aquarium fish, go to

Meemure is a beautiful remote village in tropical Sri Lanka with
a population of about 400. It is located in the Knuckles Mountain Range. (Google Maps Location) This trip was AbsoLutelY wonderful!
People live with nature in harmony. Like a journey back in time this reminds me of the age people lived sustainable with nature. No pollution and no corruption! And most importantly no greediness!!
Guess what! Earlier in this year me and my friends had a journey there. And It was amazing! Check out the photos below..
Knuckles Mountain range is in the background where many endemic species live. Some of them can only be found in those mountains..
Well that mountain peak looks so sharp isn't it? haha
Natural streams like this hold some of the natures' purest water. These waters are home to many endemic tropical fish such as Cuming's barb & Black ruby barb. Some of the rare ornamental fish in the world market..
Finally...., Yes of course we had a great time! It is amazing to live in the paradise which reminds me of how lucky we are in every single day. Well., hope to meet you guys with a new post soon..
As i am going to my Degree lectures i'm passing this place. (Google Maps Location) A small village and there is a little town near by.
You can see the paddy fields that have been abandoned for some time. There is a beautiful temple near by. You can see the "Dagaba" in white.
These paddy fields are being prepared to cultivate.
Here you can see the road and a statue of Buddha near the junction.
The road near by. It's a rainy day...
These canals are used to water the paddy fields. A complete echo system can be found here with few different types of fish.
Will see you guys soon. I'm Thilina from Tropical Ceylon!
